(Hastings, Neb.) – Dr. Rich Lloyd, Academic Dean Emeritus and Professor of English, will depart Hastings College at the end of the academic year to become President of the College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont.  His appointment at the 56 year-old institution begins on July 1, 2012.

“Rich leaves a stellar legacy at Hastings College, in the classroom and as an administrator,” said Dennis Trotter, President of Hastings College.  “We thank Rich and his wife, Monica, for their service to the Hastings College community and wish them all the best as they begin this new chapter.”

A1985 Hastings College graduate, Dr. Lloyd returned to campus as a faculty member in 1990 and later served as Academic Dean and Vice President for College Initiatives.  At the beginning of this academic year, he returned full-time to the classroom.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Rich, and although this announcement marks the end of era during which the Lloyd family has ably served the College, it is always an honor when an outside institution selects one of our own to lead it,” said Dr. Clark Hendley, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Monica Lloyd currently serves as manager of the Bronco Bookstore on campus, a position she has held since July 1996.  She will depart for Vermont at a date to be announced later.

Hastings College, founded in 1882, is a private, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). A total of 64 majors in 32 areas of study and 12 pre-professional programs are offered to more than 1,150 students.
