“Exit the King” marks White’s last production as Hastings College Professor of Theatre Arts

Note to Media: This replaces the press release sent on April 2, 2012.  The times for press nights have changed.  Press nights are now to be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 30 or 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 1 in Scott Studio Theatre. (Hastings, Neb.) – Since 1976, George W. White has been part of the Hastings College Department of Theatre Arts.  At the end of this academic year, he will retire but not before directing and designing a final production.  The selection is “Exit the King” by Eugene Ionesco which will be performed at 8 p.m., Thursday-Saturday, May 3-5 and at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 6 in Scott Studio Theatre.

The Box Office opens Thursday, April 26 and will remain open Monday-Friday from noon to 5 p.m.  Tickets are $8 general and $5 for seniors and non-HC students. Call (402) 461-7380 or e-mail tickets@hastings.edu.

This classic French absurdist exploration of ego and mortality is set in the crumbling throne-room of the palace in an unnamed country where King Berenger the First has only the duration of the play to live. In a strangely comic world, he faces the final inevitable truth of life: death.
