(Hastings, Neb.) – The Reverend Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II, will serve as the keynote speaker for Hastings College’s Religion in Life Week. His address, on Tuesday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in French Memorial Chapel (800 N. Turner Ave.), will explore the intersection of religion and politics – a topic he knows well as the director of the Presbyterian Church USA’s Public Witness, Peace and Justice Ministry in Washington, D.C. The public is invited to attend this free lecture.
On Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m., the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, the Rev. Dr. Nelson will led HC’s weekly Chapel service. This service, scheduled for 10 a.m. in French Memorial Chapel, will feature music by the Hastings College Choir.
Festivities for the week conclude on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in French Memorial Chapel with a showing of “At the River I Stand,” part of the ongoing community film series at HC. This documentary recounts the two months leading to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s death in 1968.
