Festival of Crosses competition to benefit HC’s Lutheran campus ministries

(Hastings, Neb.) – Area artists of all levels and ages are invited to construct crosses for the 2012 Festival of Crosses competition. Sponsored by the Hastings College chapter of Nebraska Lutheran Campus Ministries, this second annual event allows people to tell visual stories using materials as diverse as cake, metal and needlepoint.
The competition for the most unique cross is scheduled for Saturday, March 31 at Good Samaritan Village’s Hoeger Hall (901 E. F Street) from 9-11 a.m. The deadline for entries is Friday, March 23. For additional information and to get an entry form, contact Jenny Sharrick at (402) 984-9753 or hastings@nelcm.com.
Judges for this year’s competition are HC President Dennis Trotter; his spouse, the Reverend Trina Johnsten; and HC sophomore, Beau Neville.
Participants are encouraged, but not required, to donate their entries to a silent auction for the College’s Lutheran student ministries.
Hastings College, founded in 1882, is a private, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). A total of 64 majors in 32 areas of study and 12 pre-professional programs are offered to more than 1,190 students.
