(Hastings, Neb.) – Cammie Koopman, a Hastings College senior from Hastings, Neb., has earned a Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) ASAP Career Fellowship for the Spring 2012 semester. Koopman, a media productions major with a studio art minor, is among two students selected nationwide for this fellowship which seeks to diversify and increase professionals in educational advancement.
“This national honor reflects well on Cammie’s leadership skills and on the environment which Hastings College offers students,” said Hauli Sabatka, Senior Director of Alumni Relations and College Events at Hastings College.
“As a Hastings Senior High graduate, Cammie’s a great example of a student who didn’t have to go far from home to excel. Students like her have opportunities to get a great education while also building their leadership skills in campus activities such as women’s tennis and the Student Alumni Ambassadors.
Thanks to those opportunities and the CASE ASAP Career Fellowship, Cammie will be equipped to succeed not only in her first job but throughout her career.”
During her fellowship, Koopman will work in the Hastings College Alumni Center where she will assist with planning for alumni events, such as HC’s Golden Graduation and help organize the 2012 senior gift.
As part of the fellowship, she will “receive on-the-job training and gain valuable skills in the three professional areas of educational advancement -- alumni relations, communications and marketing, and philanthropy,” according to the CASE website. Her award also includes opportunities to interact with advancement professionals, a stipend, in-depth trainings and networking opportunities.
Hastings College, founded in 1882, is a private, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). A total of 64 majors in 32 areas of study and 12 pre-professional programs are offered to more than 1,190 students. Hastings College was named among “America’s Best National Liberal Arts Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report, a “Best in the Midwest” by The Princeton Review, and a “Best Buy in College Education” by Barron’s.
