Note to Media:  For additional information, contact Chris Krancj, Head Men’s Soccer Coach, at ckranjc@hastings.edu.

(Hastings, Neb.) – In mid-March, the 2011 North American Soccer League (NASL) champion Minnesota Stars Football Club travels to central Nebraska to scrimmage the Hastings College Bronco Men’s Soccer team. This marks the first time Hastings College will host a professional soccer team on campus.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have the Minnesota Stars travel down to Hastings College to play us in a spring scrimmage,” said Chris Kranjc, Head Coach for the HC Men’s Soccer team. “This is a great opportunity for our team as we prepare and develop for the 2012 fall season. And, it is a wonderful event for the community of Hastings and central Nebraska to have the chance to see a championship level professional team play in this part of the state.

I want to thank the people who made this happen especially Djorn Buchholz, CEO of the Stars and a 2002 Hastings College graduate. Djorn was a member of the Hastings College Men’s Soccer team and still holds the record for the fastest hat trick in Hastings College Soccer history. He spearheaded this scrimmage and made it a reality. We are looking forward to March 16 and are excited to make history again.”
