(Hastings, Neb.) – Movie critics say westerns are dead.  Hastings native and Hastings College alum Michael Tushaus ’98 wants to prove them wrong.

Now based in Las Vegas, Tushaus will screen his latest 37-minute film, entitled “The Adventures of Loop and Rhett”, on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the Hastings Museum’s Lied Super Screen Theater.  The event is free and open to the public although reservations will be required.

The screening is sponsored by the Hastings College Student Association and the Hastings Museum.

Tushaus and fellow Hastings, Neb., native Megan McQuillan perform together in the western/action/comedy/adventure.  Set in 1880s Alacran, New Mexico, the film tells of cowboys Loop and Rhett who cross paths with the town’s corrupt banker.  Adventure ensues.

Tushaus and his wife Karen Cornejo serve as Executive Producers and co-creators for the $20,000 film.  To date, “The Adventures of Loop & Rhett” is Tushaus’ most ambitious project.

The film does contain some violence and mild language but is appropriate for most audiences.  To view the trailer, go to www.loopandrhett.com.
