(Hastings, Neb.) – To raise breast cancer awareness, temporarily trade your crimson and white gear for pink apparel during the Wednesday, Oct. 12th Hastings College volleyball game versus Doane at the Lynn Farrell Arena (800 E. 12th St.)  The varsity game will start at 7:30 p.m., and every cancer survivor in attendance will receive a special gift.

This annual “Play tough. Play pink.” event is sponsored by Hastings College, the YWCA of Adams County, Dr. Jerry K. Seiler Breast Care and General Surgery and Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.  During the game, sponsors will host raffles, sell pink t-shirts and distribute prizes.  All proceeds will go to the Morrison Cancer Center-Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital programs.

Prior to the volleyball games, the YWCA of Adams County will sponsor a 5K run/2 mile walk.  Register for $20 before October 6th or for $25 on the day of the event, beginning at 5 p.m., at the Gray Center for Communication Arts (1100 N. Elm St.)  The race will begin at 5:45 p.m. near the Gray Center.  Run/walk participants will receive a t-shirt, free admission to the volleyball games and a free bag of popcorn.

For more information about the run/walk, go to www.ywcaadamscounty.com for online registration or register the day of the event.
