(Hastings, Neb.) – Live from French Memorial Chapel (800 N. Turner Ave.) on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m., it’s “Saturday Night Live” Director of Photography Alex Buono.   His lecture on modern photography and film will be free and open to the public.

Buono has directed the pre-produced portions of “Saturday Night Live” for twelve seasons, as well as producing movies including “Bigger Stronger Faster,” and the Oscar-nominated short,  “Johnny Flynton.”   His 2005 film “Green Street Hooligans,” about London’s football-gang subculture, starring Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam, won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the 2005 South By Southwest Film Festival.

Canon USA’s Digital Learning Center and Explorers of Light program is sponsoring the event.

“Alex is an innovative force in the transformation of modern film and video,” Brett Erickson, Assistant Professor of Communication Arts, said.

“His work with high-definition video photography cameras on ‘Saturday Night Live’ has caught the attention of many industry professionals, so his keynote should be both informative and inspiring.”

Born in Portland, Oregon, Alex moved to Los Angeles in 1991 to attend the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, majoring in film production and still photography. His early post-collegiate years were spent on the camera crews of studio films including “Twister,” “Conspiracy Theory,” and “Armageddon.”
