Three Hastings College students picked for Physics Internships
Three Hastings College physics majors have been chosen for Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) internships in physics this summer.
Jordan Borrell, sophomore, Hastings, Neb.
With an interest in medical physics, Jordan applied to and was accepted into a program at Iowa State University. The program uses an interdisciplinary approach as the students from a variety of majors work together to solve a problem using Emerging Interface Technologies (EIT). Specifically, Jordan will be working with a team on a 3-D imaging project to study the relationship between humans and computers.
Jimmy Duin, senior, Gretna, Neb.
Jimmy will be at the University of Minnesota working in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He will be working in biomedical engineering or microelectronics, device design and materials fabrication.
Laura VanEpps, junior, Bellevue, Neb.
Laura was accepted into a program at the University of Arkansas. She will be at the Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Sciences. Laura will carry out research in astrobiology, astrophysics and astronomy. She will also participate in weekly seminars and take several field trips, including a visit to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, the working home of HC grad Clayton Anderson.
