Hastings College will host a simulcast of the E.N. Thompson Forum’s “Who’s Afraid of International Trade?,” presented by Pietra Rivoli at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 12 in the Wilson Center. This event is free and open to the public, and community discussion will follow.

Pietra Rivoli is a professor at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. She teaches finance and international business in the undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs. Her main interests are social issues in international business and in China, and she was recently honored by the Aspen Institute as a Faculty Pioneer, an award that recognizes leadership in integrating social issues into business education.

Rivoli's recent book, “The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy,” has been widely acclaimed by both the popular press and the academic community as a path-breaking study of globalization. It was named one of the best business books of the year by the Financial Times, Booz Allen Hamilton, Foreign Affairs and Amazon.com. It was also designated by the American Association of Publishers as the best scholarly book of 2005, in the category of Finance and Economics. The book has been translated into 14 languages and the second edition was published in 2009.
