Hastings College February Events

Nebraska Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Concert
Nearly 200 high school students will perform in the annual Nebraska Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Festival concert on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. in Kiewit Gymnasium.
The Nebraska Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Festival is the state’s original honor festival. This is the 49th annual honor band, the 41st annual honor choir and the 32nd annual honor orchestra.

 

Black History Month
7 p.m., Feb. 17 – Professor Charles McKinney of Rhodes College in Memphis, a respected scholar of African American history, will give a talk as part of Black History Month, French Memorial Chapel.

 

Art Gallery
January 9-February 4 – Annual All-Student Art Exhibition, Art Gallery
The show includes 43 works by 39 artists. Three artists received awards for Best-of-Show, Best 3-D and Best 2-D.

All Day, Feb. 3-5 – Hastings College High School Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Festival, Campus Wide

10 a.m., Feb. 11 – Student Recital: Music Hour, Perkins Auditorium
3 p.m., Feb. 13 – Student Recital: Nate Mertens, saxophone (2010 Presser Scholar), Perkins Auditorium
7:30 p.m., Feb. 15 – Faculty Recital: Faculty Jazz Ensemble, Perkins Auditorium
3 p.m., Feb. 20 – Student Recital: Zach Nickel, trumpet; Deann Duncan, flute; Kevin Smith, tenor, Perkins Auditorium
7:30 p.m., Feb. 20 – Student Recital: Elizabeth Powers, horn, Perkins Auditorium
3 p.m., Feb. 27 – Student Recital/Guest Recital: Hastings Symphony Orchestra, Young Artist Concert and Tribute to Larry Maupin, Masonic Center
