Hastings College Art Gallery Honors Best in Art
The Hasting College Art Gallery is featuring the 2011 All-Student Art Show through Feb. 4. The show includes 43 works by 39 student artists. An awards ceremony held Jan. 9 honored three artists for Best of Show, Best 3-D and Best 2-D. The winners are listed below.
Best of Show
Blake Marquardt, Centennial, Colo., for “Wobbly Chair,” a mixed media sculptural construction
Best 3-D
Jessica Hunt, Beaver City, Neb., for “Chair Lamp,” a mixed media sculptural construction
Best 2-D
Ryley Hansen, Omaha, Neb., for “Skeleton Woman,” a charcoal drawing
The show was judged by artist Cathy Fairbanks, of Los Angeles, Calif. Fairbanks also named the award recipients. Nearly 200 items were submitted for the show and award competition.
Hastings College, founded in 1882, is a private, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). A total of 64 majors in 32 areas of study and 12 pre-professional programs are offered to more than 1,190 students.
