Hastings College hosts Many Moccasins and Moses Brings Plenty

Hastings College will host the popular Many Moccasins Dance Troupe with Moses Brings Plenty, well-known as a part of the international music group “Brule,” for an exciting evening of Native American dance and music at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26 in French Memorial Chapel.
This event, which is co-sponsored by the Department of Music and the Hastings College Artist Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.
Moses J. Brings Plenty is Oglala Lakota, and a gifted musician, actor, model and spokesperson. He has toured with the award-winning musical group “Brule.” As an actor, he has worked in television, film and theatre. Film credits include: “Rez Bomb,” “Hidalgo,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” The History Channel’s “Comanche Warrior,” and he also played the role of Crazy Horse on The History Channel's investigating history documentary, “Who Killed Crazy Horse.” Moses is an advocate for Indian elders and youth. He works toward helping his Indian community via traditional ceremony and prayer as a means to provide and build for the youth a way of life that so many who have come before him have sacrificed to create.
The Many Moccasins Dance Troupe is an ensemble of professional performers who utilize Traditional Native American style of dance and incorporate their own unique theatrical twist. The result is a spectacular display of true Native American culture unlike any other. This dance group has been performing for large audiences since their inception in 2001. Based in Winnebago, Nebraska, the dance group was originally founded by Lewis St. Cyr and his mother Therese St. Cyr. Dances performed include men’s fancy feather dance, women’s fancy shawl dance and the popular hoop dance. The dance troupe also showcases specialty dances particular to certain tribes, such as the “Fish Dance” or the “Appliqué Dance.” It’s an educational experience with a visual impact.
After performing professionally for nine years, the Many Moccasins Dance Troupe now choreographs new and more contemporary performances. Using what they have learned throughout years of performing, the dance troupe includes props and groundbreaking audio to enhance their performances. This dance troupe now tours and performs to large audiences and sold out crowds across the country.
