Hastings College group to offer bike education, alternative transportation event

The Hastings College Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC) will present “Get up & Move,” an educational and fun event “promoting all forms of alternative transportation” beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Fleharty Center parking lot (800 E. 12th St.) on Hastings College campus.
Community members of all ages are invited to bike, rollerblade, walk/run, or use any other form of alternative transportation to travel the Hastings hike and bike trail from the southwest corner of the Fleharty Center parking lot to the downtown Hastings city parking lot for an afternoon of fun. Volunteers will be available to direct participants along the trail.
Once downtown, the event will feature several fun and educational activities, including bike maintenance and safety tutorials, an obstacle course for kids, t-shirt give away and free raffle. Bike helmets will be available for $5 with a free professional fitting. The 1-2-5 men’s a capella group will sing. Food and refreshments will be provided.
SEAC is a student-run group that works to bring environmental issue awareness and sustainable practices to Hastings College and the community.
