Hastings College 2010 Homecoming Royalty Announced
Hastings College juniors Decker Brown, Bailey, Colo., and Jensyn Rudolph, North Platte, Neb., were named 2010 Homecoming King and Queen at a special coronation dinner held Friday, Oct. 8. Juniors Mario Powell, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Danielle Wright, Fort Collins, Colo., were named Prince and Princess. Royalty were selected by a vote of the student body.
The couples will preside over the 59th Annual Melody Round-Up Parade at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9 in downtown Hastings. They will be present at the 2 p.m. Homecoming game vs. Midland College at Lloyd Wilson Field on Saturday and at other activities planned for Hastings College Homecoming/Family weekend – Oct. 8-10, 2010.

King - Decker Brown, son of Dave and Paula Brown, Bailey, Colo., is a history education major. A Dean’s List student, Brown is a member of the College Republicans, and he participates in the Hastings College baseball team.
Queen - Jensyn Rudolph, daughter of Ben and Lynnette Niles, North Platte, Neb., is a vocal education and voice performance major. A Dean’s List student, Rudolph is an active member of the Sigma Alpha Iota women’s international music fraternity. She has participated in HC Band, HC Choir, Women’s Choir, Bell Choir and Vocal Spectrum. Rudolph has sung at College View Assisted Living and has participated in the Music Educators National Conference (MENC).
Prince - Mario Powell, son of Alicia Duren, Colorado Springs, Colo., is a music composition and entertainment major. Powell is a Resident Hall Assistant, and he participates in HC Band, HC Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Men’s Choir and Chapel Band.
Princess - Danielle Wright, daughter of Bill and Sally Wright, Fort Collins, Colo., is a studio art major. On the Dean’s List, Wright is an active member of the ALS Student Symposium and the Student Alumni Ambassadors. She was a Resident Assistant and played on the women’s soccer team. Wright is actively involved in the Collegian, HCTV and hcworldnews.com campus media.
2010 Finalists
Doyle Hanshaw, son of Michael and Jo Hanshaw, Omaha, Neb., is a music education major. Hanshaw is treasurer of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and he participates in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, HC Band, HC Choir, Bell Choir, 1-2-5 a capella ensemble and the Hastings Symphony Orchestra. He was chosen for the Nebraska Collegiate Band his sophomore year, and he has participated in theatre productions of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and “Almost, Maine.”
Indiana Jones, son of Roberta Jones, Albuquerque, N.M., is a construction management major. A linebacker for the Hastings College football team, Jones has received honorable mention All-Conference honors, and he has volunteered his time for special education at Bernalillo High School in New Mexico.
Adam Kaiser, son of Randy and Maja Kaiser, Broomfield, Colo., is a marketing major. Kaiser is an active member of the Public Relations Council, the ALS Student Symposium and the Beta Chi Fraternity. He has served on the Executive Council Committee and the Student Senate, and he was elected Student Association Parliamentarian this year. Kaiser has participated in the HC Band, and he is a Resident Assistant for Altman Hall. He was a cast member in “The Glass Menagerie” and “Book of Days” theatre productions.
Callie Arnold, daughter of Russ and Rose Arnold, Broken Bow, Neb., is a mathematics education major. Arnold is an active member of the Public Relations Council, the Student Education Association and the Chi Omega Psi Sorority. She participates in women’s track and volunteers for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Sophia McDermott, daughter of Mary McDermott, Aberdeen, S.D., is a communication studies major. McDermott is an active member of the Public Relations Council, the Executive Council Intramural Committee and the Chi Omega Psi Sorority. She is a point guard for the women’s basketball team.
Rebecca Smith, daughter of John and Karen Smith, Broken Bow, Neb., is an elementary education major. On the Dean’s List, Smith is an active member of the Public Relations Council, the Student Education Association and the Alpha Phi Sigma Sorority. She serves on the New Student Days Committee and the Executive Council Special Events Committee, and she has participated in HC Singers.

Adam Bassett, son of Steven and Patti Bassett, Lincoln, Neb., is a biology major. A Dean’s List student, Bassett is an active member of the Student Alumni Ambassadors, the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society, the Student Senate and the Beta Chi Fraternity. He sits on the Residence Hall Council, and he was named president of Altman Hall. Bassett was elected historian for Tri-Beta, and he was named to the leadership staff of the Habitat for Humanity Hastings College chapter. He recently served a summer at the L5 Youth Ranch and Horse Rescue in Sprague, Neb.
Anthony Pingel, son of Gary and Audrey Pingel, Beloit, Kan., is a marketing major. A Dean’s List student, Pingel is an active member of the Public Relations Council, the Society of Collegiate Journalists and the Inter Greek Council. He is co-president of the Psi Theta Epsilon Fraternity, and he has been involved in the Collegian, HCTV and KFKX campus media. Pingel has participated in the Student Alumni Ambassadors, HC Choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and multiple theatre productions. He received a second-place Golden Leaf Award from the Nebraska Collegiate Media Association for his work in media.
Chad Pinkerman, son of Marty and Angie Pinkerman, Hastings, Neb., is a marketing and communication studies major. On the Dean’s List, Pinkerman is an active member of the Public Relations Council, the Professional Business Leaders and the Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society. He has participated in New Student Days, Jazz Ensemble, Men’s Choir and Chapel Band. Pinkerman has been a reporter for the Collegian, a sports commentator for HCTV and a DJ and board member for KFKX.
Brandon Ray, son of Dennis and Katheryn Ray, Spalding, Neb., is a physical education major. A Dean’s List student, Ray is an active member of the Psi Theta Epsilon Fraternity, and he is a student volleyball coach. He participates in men’s cross country and track.
Brock Sindt, son of Steve and Kim Sindt, Inavale, Neb., is a chemistry and biochemistry/molecular biology major. Sindt is a Resident Hall Assistant for Weyer Hall, and he participates in HC Band.
Jacob Wardyn, son of Jeff and Brenda Wardyn, Weeping Water, Neb., is a biology major. A Dean’s List student, Wardyn is an active member of the ALS Student Symposium, the Pre-Health Club, the Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC) and the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society. He is a Resident Hall Assistant for Altman Hall and an Altman Senator for the Student Senate. Wardyn has served on the Executive Council Concerts Committee, and he was recently selected to serve on the Hastings College Presidential Search Committee. He received the CRC Press First-Year Chemistry Achievement Award in 2009. Wardyn is a wide receiver for the football team.
Jennifer Gold, daughter of Bill and Cindy Gold, Denver, Colo., is a recreation and sports management major. Gold is an active member of the Student Alumni Ambassadors, the Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC) and the Chi Omega Psi Sorority. She has been a Resident Assistant and has played on the women’s basketball team. She participates in women’s track and KFKX campus radio.
Cammie Koopman, daughter of Doug and Becky Koopman, York, Neb., is a media production major. Koopman is an active member of the Public Relations Council and the Student Alumni Ambassadors. She has worked on the Bronco Yearbook and Collegian staff, and she participates in the Crimson Spirit Dance Team and in women’s tennis. Koopman has received several honors for tennis, among them All-Conference recognition for tennis doubles last season. She was named Mrs. Bronco her sophomore year.
Rachel Lee, daughter of Kevin and Julie Lee, Golden, Colo., is an English, history and religion major. On the Dean’s List, Lee is an active member of the Public Relations Council, the Inter Greek Council, the Alpha Phi Sigma Sorority and the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. She has served on the Student Senate and the Executive Council Committee, and she is a member of the Christian Ministries. Lee participates in women’s cross country and track.
Chelsi Pinegar, daughter of James and Sheri Pinegar, Bennington, Neb., is an English education major. A Dean’s List student, Pinegar is vice president of the Public Relations Council and an executive member of the Student Alumni Ambassadors. She is an active member of the Peer HIV Education Organization (PHIVE-O) and the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. Pinegar is a co-captain of the Crimson Spirit Dance Team.
Jenny Sharrick, daughter of Jim and Deb Sharrick, Hastings, Neb., is a biopsychology and religion major. A Dean’s List student, Sharrick is an active member of the Peer HIV Education Organization (PHIVE-O), the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society, the American Chemical Society and the Pre-Health Club. A Christian Ministry Scholar, Sharrick has participated in HC Democrats, Peer Umbrella Network (PUN), Common Grounds, GraceXchange, HC Band, HC Choir and Chapel Band. A certified peer educator, she has served on planning committees for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Local/Global, HC Haiti Relief and Chapel. Sharrick is a co-captain of the Crimson Spirit Dance Team, and she was named Sophomore of the Year by the Alpha Chi Academic Honor Society.
Mallory Suhr, daughter of Mark Suhr and Lori Anderson, Seward, Neb., is a biology major. On the Dean’s List, Suhr is vice president of the Chi Omega Psi Sorority and secretary of the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society. She is an active member of the Student Alumni Ambassadors and the Pre-Health Club. Suhr is a catcher and captain of the softball team.
