Hastings College hosts bagpiper from Zimbabwe
The Hastings College Department of Music will host Edwin Mukusha for a Scottish bagpipe performance at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12 in Perkins Auditorium in Fuhr Hall on the Hastings College campus. Mukusha will offer a lecture on the subject from 12:45-2 p.m. in Perkins Auditorium that day.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Edwin Mukusha is from Zimbabwe, and he has been playing the bagpipes for twenty years. He began playing Scottish highland music on the bagpipes when he was in high school and eventually added other styles, including highland drumming. Among his honors, Mukusha has performed for the British Prime Minister and members of the British Royal Family. He has participated in the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland (1988), the Churchill School Pipe Band and the Matant Pipeband in Zimbabwe, the Lincoln Pipes and Drums in Lincoln, Neb., the Omaha Pipes and Drums and the Strathdon Caledonia Pipe Band of Omaha and the North Texas Caledonia Pipe Band.
