Hastings College ALS Invited Faculty Lecture by Dr. Robert Amyot

Hastings College Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Robert Amyot will present the ALS Invited Faculty Lecture, “Why do candidates attack? How political scientists, journalists, and campaign consultants justify negative campaigning,” at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 8 in French Memorial Chapel.
This event is sponsored by the Hastings College Artist Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.
In his presentation, Dr. Amyot will examine negative campaigning through the eyes of the candidates themselves and their political strategists, the journalists who report and bemoan the attacks, and political scientists who examine the rhetoric and tactics and look for motives, patterns, and explanations.
Dr. Amyot joined the Hastings College faculty in 2006. He received the 2010 Kent and Normalee Stadler Faculty Achievement Award for demonstrating significant and meritorious achievement in teaching. Amyot received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and his Ph.D. at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
