Acclaimed Recording Artist Carrie Newcomer to Perform at Hastings College
Hastings College presents acclaimed recording artist, singer, songwriter Carrie Newcomer at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 8 in Perkins Auditorium, Fuhr Hall. This concert is free and open to the public.
Newcomer is also scheduled to sing at 4:45 p.m. that day for the Heartwell Park Project, an environmental awareness and organized clean-up event to be held from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, April 8 at Heartwell Park. A separate release for this event has been sent. This event is free and open to the public, and community members are encouraged to participate.
Newcomer's music has been positively reviewed in Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Acoustic Guitar, Performing Songwriter, Paste Magazine and more. In 2008, she was listed as one of the Top Most Influential Artists of the past 25 Years by Boston's WUMB radio. She has been praised for her unique ability to bring spiritual awareness to the world.
Newcomer will be on campus April 7-9 to visit classes and host workshops for Hastings College students exploring career choice, spiritual service and more.
Newcomer’s concert and workshops are sponsored by the Hastings College Vocations and Values Program funded by the Lilly Endowment Inc. This initiative provides opportunities for students to think deeply about the ethical and spiritual dimensions of their life’s work and to explore careers in service to others.
