Hastings College Art Gallery hosts exhibition, Gallery Walk

The Hastings College Art Gallery will host an exhibition of photographs from Monday, Feb. 15 – Monday, Mar. 1 featuring photographs from photojournalist Bruce Thorson’s project, “Searching for the Real Nebraska,” which documents rural Nebraska in the current economic recession.
Student photographs from Hastings College's 2010 J-Term Digital Photography class will also be on display.
A reception to honor the artists will be 1-3 p.m., Sunday, February 28 at the HC Art Gallery.
Thorson teaches photojournalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communication. He spent 25 years in newspaper photojournalism as a photographer, photo editor, mostly in Oregon, and director of photography at the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press. An award-winning photographer, Thorson has received recognition from the Associated Press, The Best of the West competition and the National Press Photographers Association. His photographs have also appeared in Sports Illustrated, People Magazine, USA Today, Oregon Business, Nebraska Life and various other publications.
This show is presented in conjunction with the “Photograph Nebraska” symposium February 26-28 in Hastings. The symposium is organized by the Adams County Convention and Visitors Bureau. As part of the symposium, Hastings College Art Gallery will be among the stops along the Gallery Walk hosted by Graham Gallery of Hastings.
The Hastings College Art Gallery is located in the Art Center on campus, near 7th St. and Elm Ave. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays, and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.
