Jan. 21 - Hastings College February Events
The following events take place at Hastings College during the month of February 2010. Please visit www.hastings.edu for more information.
Nebraska Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Concert
Nearly 200 high school students will perform in the annual Nebraska Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Festival concert at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6 in Kiewit Gymnasium. The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students, and may be purchased at the door.
The Nebraska Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Festival is the state’s original honor festival. This is the 48th annual honor band, the 40th annual honor choir and the 31st annual honor orchestra.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
The Hastings College Department of Theatre Arts and Department of Music present the J-Term musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 4-6 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. This show is rated PG.
William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin’s unlikeliest of hit musicals has a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. The show was nominated for six Tony Awards in 2005, winning two for Best Book of a Musical and Best Featured Actor.
The box office opens Thursday, Jan. 28 and will remain open weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. For tickets, call (402) 461-7308 or email tickets@hastings.edu.
