Sept. 22 - Hastings College Homecoming/Family Weekend 2009, Sept. 25-27
Hastings College will celebrate Homecoming/Family Weekend, Friday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 27.
Homecoming/Family Weekend is one of the most exciting and well-attended events at Hastings College. Alumni, parents and friends are invited to attend a variety of events, including the Artist Lecture Series Invited Faculty Lecture, Bronco Gallup, Road Show of Antiques and Collectables, Downtown Parade, HC Barbecue and other entertaining events and activities. Tours of the new Morrison-Reeves Science Center will be available throughout the weekend as well. See you all there!
Thursday, Sept. 24
5-7 p.m. - Hastings College Alumni and Business After Hours Reception at the Barrett Alumni Center. This event is held in conjunction with the Hastings Chamber of Commerce.
Friday, Sept. 25
10 a.m. - ALS Invited Faculty Lecture by Dr. Douglas Kinnear, associate professor of economics at Hastings College. Dr. Kinnear will present, “Why is it Getting Warmer, and What are we Doing in this Handbasket?” French Memorial Chapel
Saturday, Sept. 26
7:30 a.m. registration, 8 a.m. start – Bronco Gallup 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Run/Walk ($10 registration fee), sponsored by the HC Alumni Association and Foundation and the Hastings Family YMCA. Gray Center for Communications Arts, Circle Drive Parking Lot
9-10:30 a.m. – Road Show of Antiques and Collectables
Hastings College alumnus, Tom Bassett '67, of Bassett's Appraisal Service in Lincoln, Neb., will be on hand to share information about collectables brought in to the Road Show. The public is invited to bring two heirlooms or antiques (photos are accepted) to find out more about them. Hazelrigg Student Union, Room C
10 a.m. – Melody Round-Up Homecoming Parade, downtown Hastings (A separate release regarding the Melody Round-Up Homecoming Parade will be sent out.)
Noon-1:30 p.m. – Hastings College Barbecue, Gray Center Parking Lot
($5 adults, $3 children 5-12 and 4 and under are free) Don’t miss the children’s activities and the Hastings College Marching Band.
2 p.m. – Hastings College vs. Dakota Wesleyan University, Osborne Family Sports Complex, Wilson Field
Sunday, Sept. 27
11 a.m. - First Presbyterian Church in Hastings will celebrate Hastings College Sunday during service, 621 N. Lincoln Ave.
