July 23 - Lady Broncos honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association
The Hastings College volleyball team has received the 2008-09 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for their stellar performance in the classroom. This is the sixth year in a row the Hastings College volleyball team has received this honor.
Each year the AVCA honors teams that have displayed academic excellence by maintaining at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA throughout the academic year.
The AVCA named Bronco volleyball players Jill Whalen and Alyssa Montgomery to the 2008 NAIA All-Region Teams last year. Whalen, a senior outside hitter from Gregory, S.D., was named to the first team while Montgomery, a senior from Guide Rock, Neb., received honorable-mention as a middle hitter.
Home of the Hastings Broncos, Hastings College is a private, four-year liberal arts institution, founded in 1882, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Hastings College received the 2009 GPAC All-Sports Trophy for the best overall performance in 19 conference sports, and 53 Broncos were named Academic All-American this year.
