July 10 - HC Bronco named Female Athlete of the Year

Hastings College senior, Lindsay Ducey, Omaha, Neb., is named Journal Star State College Women’s Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row.

Last year, the 6-foot-1 center missed the end of the season with a broken foot and still named first-team All-American and Female Athlete of the Year for her performance on the court.

This year, Ducey rebounded from her injury to be named first-team All-American and Female Athlete of the Year for a second time.

Ducey helped guide the Lady Broncos to a runner-up finish in the NAIA National Tournament as she charted four double-doubles out of a possible five games. She was named first-team All-Conference this year for the second year in a row as well. Ducey finished the regular season averaging 17.7 points per game and 9.1 rebounds a game. She led the team in blocks with 23 while dishing out 81 assists and finished the year shooting 49 percent from the floor and 87 percent from the free-throw line. Hastings College ended the year at 27-8 and 12-6 in the conference.

Home of the Broncos, Hastings College is a private, four-year liberal arts institution, founded in 1882, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Hastings College received the 2009 GPAC All-Sports Trophy for the best overall performance in 19 conference sports, and 54 Broncos were named NAIA All-American Scholar Athletes this year.
