May 13 - Hastings College 123rd Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies planned for Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16

Hastings College’s 123rd Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16. Baccalaureate will take place at 6 p.m., Friday, May 15, at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings. Commencement will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 16, in the Lynn Farrell Arena at Hastings College.


Hastings College will have 238 undergraduates crossing the stage on Saturday with 20 Master of Arts in Teaching graduates. HCTV, on Hastings Charter Cable Channel 6, will provide a live broadcast of the Commencement ceremonies on Saturday morning.


The Reverend John H.G. Curtiss, associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church, will deliver the Baccalaureate sermon on Friday.


Tom Osborne, athletic director at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will be the Commencement speaker on Saturday.


Dr. Elizabeth Behrens, retiring professor of Mathematics and Computer Science, and Dr. Dale Behrens, retiring director of Computer Services, will receive honorary doctor of science degrees. Mr. Dennis Krienert, retired Vice President for Financial Affairs and Treasurer of Hastings College Foundation, and Mr. LeRoy Thom, a Hastings College Honorary Trustee and Hastings business leader, will receive honorary doctor of business administration degrees.
