The Perfect Peace Baptist Church from Colorado Springs, Colo. will lead worship service at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, April 26 in French Memorial Chapel at Hastings College. Sunday school will be at 9:15 a.m. Reverend Tracy Garth, pastor of Perfect Peace Baptist Church, will preach, and the Perfect Peace Baptist Church Gospel Choir will sing.

The group has traveled here due to the efforts of Hastings College first-year student, Mario Powell. Powell is the head musician at Perfect Peace Baptist Church when he’s not attending classes at Hastings College.

“I really want the campus and community to experience how different churches fellowship, worship and come together as a family. Our church is pretty lively, and I hope this event can draw people to have a good time in the Lord,” Mario said. “I'm pretty sure Hastings, Nebraska has probably never experienced what they are going to experience.”
 
Mario has been working for nearly six months to bring the group to Hastings. His family has a long history in the church. His grandfather, Leoatis Duren, was pastor at Perfect Peace Baptist Church for 18 years until his death a few years ago. Mario’s grandmother, Shirley Duren, still sings in the choir and his uncle acts as head musician while Mario is away.

“It is a total blessing how everything is working out for this event,” Powell said. “It’s like Home traveling to me!”
