April 16, 2009 - Artist Lecture Series presents Hastings College psychology professor for Invited Faculty Lecture
The Hastings College Artist Lecture Series presents psychology professor, Dr. Stephanie Furrer for an Invited Faculty Lecture at 10 a.m., Friday, April 17 in French Memorial Chapel.
Dr. Furrer will present “The Role of Experience on Infant Categorization” that will explore the main issues surrounding infant categorization and explain research techniques used to study these issues. She will present data from her master’s and dissertation work to support the hypothesis that experience with the world influences how infants perform in laboratory categorization tasks.
Dr. Furrer’s research area is infant cognition, including categorization and concept development. She received her doctorate in developmental psychology from Purdue University in 2006. She also has a Master of Science degree in developmental psychology, 2003, and a Master of Arts degree in experimental psychology, 1999. She graduated magna cum laude from San Jose State University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in general psychology.
