Hastings College hosts annual jazz festival and evening concert
(Hastings, Neb.) - Hastings College will host the annual jazz festival on Monday, April 6 with an all day workshop for area high school bands and a 7:30 p.m. jazz concert in the French Memorial Chapel.
Students from 14 area high schools will work with guest clinicians throughout the day. Each high school band will have 30 minutes to perform and receive feedback from the expert clinicians.
Clinicians for the high school jazz band festival workshop include, Steve Helfand, a drummer for the Air Force band, The Notables; Ed Love, an accomplished jazz musician and teacher at Lincoln Public Schools; and Norm Sedomka, a retired Grand Island public school teacher and former director of the New Flock Band.
The day will culminate with An Evening of Jazz directed by Dr. Daniel Laing. The concert will feature the Hastings College Jazz Ensemble and the Air Force jazz band, The Notables.
All performances will be held in the French Memorial Chapel on Hastings College campus.
