June 25, 2008 - Osborne to speak at Hastings College 2009 Commencement

Dr. Thomas Osborne, Lincoln, Neb., a Hastings College graduate and member of the Hastings College Board of Trustees, will return to his alma mater to speak at the college’s 123rd Commencement exercises, Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Osborne Family Sports Complex.
 
Osborne, a 1959 graduate, is athletic director at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). In 2000, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives from Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District and served six years. For 25 years, Osborne was head football coach at UNL. 

Osborne is among 26 other family members who graduated from, attended, taught, or served as trustees of Hastings College. The sports complex, completed in 2000, is named in honor of the Osborne family. That same year, Osborne was inducted into the college’s Pro Rege Society. In 1995, Osborne received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Hastings College, and in 1985, received the Outstanding Alumni Award.
