June 21, 2006 - Hastings College athletic trainer cited

Jason Durocher, Hastings College head athletic trainer and instructor of physical education, was selected as 2006 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics-Athletic Trainer Association (NAIA-ATA) Trainer of the Year. Durocher was cited at the organization’s annual meeting in Atlanta, Ga., last week. Fran Hummel, Hastings College athletic director, nominated Durocher for the honor. A member of the college staff since 1999, Durocher completed a bachelor of science degree at California State University, Fresno, and a master of arts degree at Whitworth College, Spokane, Wash. He oversees the health needs of 450 student-athletes who participate in 18 varsity sports. Durocher also supervises 10 student athletic trainers.
