March 29, 2006 - Glass artist to lecture at Hastings College

Glass artist James Mongrain will deliver a lecture Thursday, March 30, at 7 p.m., in Wilson Center Auditorium. The public is invited to attend. Mongrain, who owns and operates Mongrain Glass Studio in Mukilteo, Wash., is known for his spectacular skills in all areas of glass making. He is considered the top goblet maker in the United States, and his Venetian-style goblets are truly amazing. Mongrain and his work have been featured on the reality television program “Extreme Home Makeover.” He also works as a master glassblower for renowned artists Dale Chihuly, Kiki Smith and Jim Dine. The visiting artist will be demonstrating his artistry in the Hastings College glass studio from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday, March 30 and 31.
