Hastings College is observing Women’s History Month during the month of March. All scheduled activities are free and open to the public. In addition, a Women’s History Month exhibit is on display in Perkins Library.             Dr. Mary Wheat Gray, a 1959 graduate of Hastings College, will speak Tuesday, March 7, at 7 p.m., in Hazelrigg Student Union, Rooms A and B. Gray is a professor of mathematics and statistics at American University in Washington, D.C. Author of many books and papers, her research efforts include applications of statistics, intellectual property and academic freedom, and language and gender issues in mathematics.             Gray has served as a consultant on issues of university governance, academic freedom and tenure, faculty personnel policies, economic equity, and technology in higher education in the United States, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. In 2003, she worked on a U.S. AID project regarding education in Iraq, and is a consultant to the Kurdistan regional government on statistics and information technology.             Rev. Dr. Ann B. Sherer, bishop of the Nebraska Conference of the United Methodist Church, will speak Wednesday, March 8, at 10 a.m., in French Memorial Chapel. She was consecrated to the office of bishop in 1992, and in 1999, received the Emory Medal. Sherer has visited churches and shared in mission work in 14 countries.

Pamela Means, a Boston-based folk rock artist and poet, will perform on campus Wednesday, March 29, at 7 p.m., in French Memorial Chapel.  Described as an artist with a “kamikaze guitar style,” Means incorporates rock, jazz and blues into traditional folk music with an Afro-beat backdrop. Her razor wit poetry and irresistible charm sets the stage afire.
