January 31, 2006 - Hastings College sponsoring Bioterrorism Week, Feb. 6-10

The Hastings College Department of Biology will sponsor Bioterrorism Week, Monday-Friday, Feb. 6-10. Three guest speakers will address bioterrorism issues. The public is invited to attend the free lectures.  

Speakers and locations are as follows:

  • 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 6, Sharon Medcalf, associate director for the Nebraska  Center for Bioterrorism Education, will address “An Overview of Avian and Pandemic Influenza,” Hazelrigg Student Union, Room C.
  • 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, Anthony Sambol, coordinator for Special Pathogens/Biosecurity Laboratory for the Nebraska Public Health Laboratory  Section at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, will address, “The Nebraska Model: Working Together on Terrorism Preparedness Issues,” Wilson Center Auditorium.
  • 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 10, Dr. Dennis Hughes, Nebraska State Veterinarian, will discuss “Potential Threat of Agroterrorism,” Hazelrigg Student Union, Rooms A and B.
