October 4, 2005 - Hastings College sets record enrollment
Official fall semester enrollment figures for Hastings College were released October 1. Enrollment stands at 1,189. According to Jim Smith, registrar of the college, this reflects an all-time enrollment high with an increase of 33 full-time students, and an increase of 36 students compared to fall 2004.
Enrollment figures include full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, nine Mary Lanning/Creighton University nursing students, four international exchange students and four Central Community College students are taking courses on campus.
This year’s incoming freshmen class of 338, second largest in the college’s history, includes 19 valedictorians and salutatorians. ACT scores of the first-year students average 23.5 points.
In addition to first-year students, Hastings College enrolled 34 students who transferred from other institutions.
Seventy-two percent of new students are from Nebraska. Other states represented are: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Texas, Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah, Oklahoma and Vermont. The class also includes six foreign students from Romania, Ireland, Germany, and Canada.
