September 30, 2005 - Lei Garcia, international peacemaker, to visit Hastings College
International peacemaker Lei Garcia will perform at Hastings College, Wednesday, Oct. 5. She will be a special guest at the 10 a.m. chapel service and perform again at 8 p.m. Both events will take place in French Memorial Chapel and are free and open to the public.
Garcia, an accomplished artist, singer and songwriter, is director for Partnerships and Ecumenical Relations of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines. She is also vice moderator for the World Council of Churches' Commission on Justice, Peace and Creation.
Garcia has participated in international peace concerts around the world. She has worked extensively with the Christian youth movement and with other peace and justice movements.
Garcia’s visit is sponsored by the college’s Artist Lecture Series (ALS), Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Hastings College Chapel.
