April 16, 2007 - Hastings College names Thom Christian Ministry Scholars
Two high school seniors received Thom Christian Ministry Scholarships and will attend Hastings College beginning with the 2007-08 academic year. Each scholarship is valued at $3,000 per year. Selected were Kallie Griffin, Alto, N.M.; and Dan Kramer, Columbus, Neb.
Thom Scholars were selected on academic achievement, a desire to serve the church, and willingness to participate in campus religious programming. Scholars must also pursue a Christian ministry minor. Other requirements include: serve on chapel committee, attend chapel services regularly, live in campus housing for four years, participate in a yearly chapel retreat, attend a local congregation of their choosing, read material on Christian vocation during the summer months, and help promote the college’s Vocation and Values Program.
Griffin, daughter of Calvin Griffin and Cinda Brockland, attends Capitan High School. Her home church is Angus Church of the Nazarene.
Kramer, son of Jim and Ann Kramer, attends Columbus High School. His home church is Peace Lutheran Church.
Thom Christian Ministry Scholarships are funded by LeRoy and Jean Thom, Hastings, Neb. Thom is owner and president of T-L Irrigation Company. He was a member of the Hastings College Board of Trustees for 18 years, and served as chair of the Building and Grounds Committee.
