Feb. 15, 2007 - Hastings College announces faculty promotions, tenure
Hastings College has awarded promotions to six faculty members and granted tenure to three. Action was taken by the Executive Committee of the Hastings College Board of Trustees at a Jan. 25 meeting. The changes take effect July 1.
Those granted tenure included: Dr. Steven Bever, Dr. Dan Wiley, and Dr. Byron Jensen.
Lance Creech was promoted in rank to assistant professor and Dr. Dan Wiley and Dr. Renee Laegreid were promoted in rank to associate professor.
Dr. Debra McKim, Dr. Charles “Chip” Smith, and Dr. Byron Jensen were promoted in rank to full professor.
Bever, who teaches physics, joined the faculty in 2003. He completed a bachelor’s degree at Manchester College, North Manchester, Ind.; and a master’s degree and doctorate at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.
Wiley joined the English department in 2001. He completed a bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University, Columbus; and a master’s degree and doctorate at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.
Jensen, a member of the music department, joined the faculty in 2003. He completed undergraduate work at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, and then completed a master’s degree and a doctorate at Kansas State University, Manhattan.
Creech, head men’s basketball coach, joined the faculty in 2002. He completed a bachelor’s degree at Dickinson State, Dickinson, N.D.; and a master’s degree at Hastings College.
Laegreid joined the history faculty in 2003. She completed a bachelor’s degree at Washington State University, Pullman; a master’s degree at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn.; and a doctorate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
McKim, a member of the music department, joined the faculty in 1992. She completed a bachelor’s degree at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley; a master’s degree at the University of Texas, Austin; and a doctorate at the University of Northern Colorado.
Smith joined the music faculty in 1989. He completed a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and doctorate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
