October 3, 2006 - Hastings College Homecoming royalty announced

Juniors Bobby Kempf, Shickley, Neb., and Capri Timm, Loup City, Neb., were named Homecoming king and queen at Hastings College, Friday, Sept. 29, at a special coronation dinner on campus. Royalty were selected by a vote of the student body. Juniors Will Kramer, Columbus, Neb., and Kim Nochi, Gering, Neb., were named prince and princess. The couples presided over the 56th Melody Round-up Parade in downtown Hastings and the football game. King Bobby Kempf, son of Dave and Susie Kempf, Shickley, Neb., is a math education major. A forward/center on the basketball team, he was named an NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete. He is a resident assistant, a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and has been on the Dean’s List. Queen Capri Timm, daughter of Ann Obermiller, Loup City, Neb., is a business administration and economics major. On the Dean’s List, she is on the Public Relations Council, a Student Alumni Ambassador, and a member of Chi Omega Psi social sorority. She participates in Phi Beta Lambda Business Club, Alpha Chi academic honor society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A member of the women’s golf team, Timm was named GPAC Golfer of the Week and was selected for the All-Conference team. She served on the Altman Hall Council and was a resident assistant for Altman Hall. This year, she is house liaison for North Ash House. Timm participated in the Diabetes Walk and volunteered for the Adopt-a-Highway program. Prince Will Kramer, son of Jim and Ann Kramer, Columbus, Neb., is a psychology and religion major. He is on the Public Relations Council, is a residence hall assistant, and a member of Beta Chi social fraternity. Kramer was involved with KFKX radio for two years and played basketball for one year. He is vice president of Chapel Band and participates in IGNITE and Common Grounds religious organizations. Kramer is involved with Local Global Community, chapel worship discussion group, and the Christian ministry program. Princess Kim Nochi, daughter of Wayne and Sandi Nochi, Gering, Neb., is an English and history major. On the Dean’s List, she is a Student Alumni Ambassador, a member of Alpha Chi academic honor society, Sigma Tau Delta English honor society, and Phi Alpha Theta history honor society. She serves on the Student Judiciary Council and is literature editor for Spectrum literary magazine. Formerly a resident assistant in Babcock Hall, Nochi is part of the leadership team for IGNITE religious organization. Nochi received the Sarah Jane Gardner English and History Award and is a mentor for TeamMates. Finalists for queen were: Jena Alt, Waverly, Neb., Kelsea Jones, Auburn, Neb.; and Jossy Newquist, Aurora, Neb. Jena Alt, daughter of Bruce and Lea Ann Alt, Waverly, Neb., is a biology major. On the Dean’s List, she is a member of Alpha Chi academic honor society, Beta Beta Beta biology honor society, and is on the executive council for Student Association. Alt serves on the Artist Lecture Series (ALS) Student Symposium Committee and participates in Hastings College Singers. She is art editor for Spectrum literary magazine, was vice president of Babcock Hall as a sophomore, and played softball her freshman year. Kelsea Jones, daughter of Marla and Doug Jones, Auburn, Neb., is an elementary education and Spanish major. On the Dean’s List, she is a member of Alpha Chi academic honor society and Chi Omega Psi social sorority. She is an outside hitter for the volleyball team. A residence hall president her sophomore year, Jones is part of the leadership team for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a member of IGNITE religious organization. She participates in Student Education Association and Local Global Community. Named Ms. Bronco in 2006, she sings the national anthem at various college sporting events. Jones is an elementary school tutor, assists with YMCA volleyball camp, and went on a service trip to Mexico. Jossy Newquist, daughter of Ernie and Kris Newquist, Aurora, Neb., is a media production major. On the Dean’s List, she is a member of Alpha Chi academic honor society, a communications representative for Student Senate, and is resident assistant in Altman Hall. Last year, she was a hall council representative. Newquist writes for the Collegian newspaper and is team captain for cross country and track and field. As a freshman, Newquist was named top newcomer of cross country. She also is a member of CARE (College Acquaintance Rape Educators) and a PUN (Peer Umbrella Network) representative. Matt Hilderbrand, son of Mike and Connie Hilderbrand, Gothenburg, Neb., is an education major. A free safety for the football team, he is a member of Alpha Chi academic honor society and is on the Dean’s List. He participates in IGNITE and Campus Crusade religious organizations. Aaron Rouse, son of Larry and Vicki Rouse, Trumbull, Neb., is a business administration and human services administration major. On the Dean’s List, he is on the Public Relations Council, is a Student Alumni Ambassador, and president of Student Association. He also was a Student Senator. Rouse participates in BACCHUS (Boost Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students), Hastings College Choir, Men’s Choir, and was in Jazz Choir. Rouse was named an Area 5 Outstanding Student Peer Educator and was selected as Alpha Chi Outstanding Sophomore. He assisted with New Students Days and was a volunteer for Relay For Life. Heiden received the CRC Freshman Chemistry Achievement Award and the Balanos Award for having the highest grade point average as a freshman. She teaches ballet and pointe at T’Dance School of Performing Arts in Hastings, Neb., and is a member of First Presbyterian Church in York, Neb. Cami Pierson, daughter of Conn and Donna Pierson, Arcadia, Neb., is an elementary education major. On the Dean’s List, she is a Student Alumni Ambassador and a member of Alpha Chi academic honor society. Pierson participates in Alpha Omega social sorority and IGNITE religious organization. She is a member of Student Education Association and Outdoor Club. She played volleyball for one year. Darci Tomky, daughter of Darrell and Debbie Tomky, Holyoke, Colo., is a media production and music major. On the Dean’s List, she is a Student Alumni Ambassador. She is a member of the Hastings College Band and is a piano accompanist. Tomky is a member of Alpha Omega social sorority and participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campus Crusade. She is a member of IGNITE religious organization. She helped with Hurricane Katrina Relief and volunteers with her church youth program. Zach Fowler, son of Leonard and Linda Fowler, Kearney, Neb., is an accounting major. On the Dean’s List, he is treasurer of Student Association. Fowler is a member of Beta Chi social fraternity and received the Dr. Ralph Lamb Business and Economics Scholarship. He is an assistant flag football coach, an accounting tutor, and a Punt, Pass, and Kick volunteer. Wade Leibbrandt, son of Tim and Terri Leibbrandt, Imperial, Neb., is a mathematics major. On the Dean’s List, he is a member of Beta Chi social fraternity. He attends First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Neb., and assists with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. Bryan Lewis, son of Steve and Shirley Lewis, Atlantic, Iowa, (formerly of Lexington, Neb.) is a media production major. He is assistant music director for KFKX radio and a DJ. He also is a reporter for hcworldnews.com. A member of Beta Chi social fraternity, Lewis is in Hastings College Men’s Choir and plays percussion in the Hastings College Band. He participates in IGNITE and Campus Crusade religious organizations, and was a crew member for the theatre department. Patrick Miller, son of Mary and David Miller, Pawnee City, Neb., is a math and biology education major. On the Dean’s List, he is a member of Beta Chi social fraternity, is a resident assistant in Weyer Hall, and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a defensive end for the football team. Miller is a mentor for TeamMates and coaches softball in the summer. He attends First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Neb., and sings in the choir.

John Streibel, son of John and Nancy Striebel, North Platte, Neb., is a psychology major. On the Dean’s List, he is a member of Beta Chi social fraternity. He participates in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and IGNITE religious organization. Streibel played football as a freshman. Twice, he has volunteered for hurricane relief and also works at The Zone after school program.
