September 5, 2006 - Hastings College Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia cited

The Hastings College Xi Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia received the Charles E. Lutton Province Merit Award for superior accomplishment. The award was presented at the national convention in Cleveland, Ohio, last summer. The organization, a national music honor society for men, was recognized for musical achievement, chapter operations, fraternal tradition, membership development, province interaction, alumni relations and special projects for 2003-06. Xi Alpha Chapter was one of six chapters nationwide to be recognized. Faculty sponsors for the organization are Dr. Robin Koozer, professor of music and chair of the department, and Dr. Daniel Schmidt, associate professor of music and director of bands.
