Hastings College has been named the top liberal arts college in Nebraska by Washington Monthly magazine.  Washington Monthly is a magazine of U.S. politics and government based in Washington, D.C.

The magazine's college and university rankings are based upon three main criteria: how well it promotes an ethic of service to country, how well it does in fostering scientific and humanistic research, and how well it performs as an engine of social mobility.
