August 22, 2006 - Hastings College volleyball team honored
The Hastings College volleyball team received the 2005-06 Game Plan/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Team Academic Award. This was the third consecutive year the Bronco team was recognized for having the highest GPA in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The award, initiated in 1992-93, requires teams to maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. The Broncos achieved a 3.820 GPA.

The team, coached by Fred Aubuchon, finished last season with a 35-6 overall record and finished 22nd in the nation. Their 2006 season opens Friday, Aug. 25, at the Northwestern College Invitational, Orange City, Iowa.
