June 20, 2007 - Hastings College announces Golden Leaf Awards

Hastings College received numerous awards at the 2007 Nebraska Collegiate Media Association (NCMA) Golden Leaf Award competition. HCTV6 was named overall television station of the year and KFKX radio was named station of the year.


The college’s HCworldnews.com placed first in all eight website categories including: design, usability, news coverage, sports coverage, opinion coverage, art/entertainment coverage, multimedia coverage, and overall site.  The Collegian received second in best overall newspapers of less than 5,000 in circulation.


In all, Hastings College media received 20 first place awards, 11 second place awards, one third place award and four honorable mentions. Thirteen individuals also were honored.


 NCMA is an organization of mass communication departments in small colleges in Nebraska. This is the 15th year NCMA held a statewide competition.


 NCMA members include: Doane College, Midland Lutheran College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Dana College, Peru State College, Wayne State College and Hastings College.
Hastings College, founded in 1882, is a private, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). A total of 64 majors in 32 areas of study and 12 pre-professional programs are offered to 1,110 students. The college was cited among top liberal arts colleges, national bachelor’s category, in U.S. News and World Report, America’s Best Colleges 2007, and was listed as a Best Midwestern College and a Best Value College by The Princeton Review.
