Dr. John Kuehn, Hastings College assistant professor of biology, received the 2007 Polished Apple Award. The award is presented annually by the Hastings College Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) and recognizes faculty who have been teaching at the college for three years or less.

 Kuehn, a 1996 Hastings College graduate, has been a full-time faculty member since 2004. He was an adjunct instructor of biology from 2000 to 2004.

 Kuehn completed a doctor of veterinarian medicine degree at Kansas State University, Manhattan, and for several years, owned and operated Kuehn Animal Health in Heartwell.

SAA was founded in 1989 at Hastings College and is responsible for assisting the alumni office and Hastings College Foundation with Homecoming, community service projects and other alumni activities. The organization encourages students to take ownership of the college and become active alumni in the future.
