Hastings College senior Ashley Soucie, Glenvil, Neb., was awarded the $20,000 Jeffery Wallace Ellis Educational Trust Scholarship, Friday, May 11, at the annual Honors Convocation in French Memorial Chapel.

 Soucie, daughter of Bruce and Michele Soucie, will attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry, in the fall.

 Competition was limited to Nebraska residents in the top 10 percent of the senior class at Hastings College who intend to use the grant for study toward a graduate degree or certificate in a post graduate program beginning in the fall of 2007.  The late Mrs. Lloyd Ellis, who resided in Hastings, and her son, Dr. Lloyd Ellis, Jr., of Salon, Ohio, established the educational trust in 1986 to “encourage industry, moral purpose and intellectual growth among young Nebraska people.”
