June 16, 2008 - Hastings College men's golf team cited
The Hastings College men’s golf team was recognized by the NAIA as national winner of the 2008 Champions of Character Award.
One of 175 men’s teams in the association, the group was recognized for conducting two weekend golf clinics in the fall for Hastings grade school students. The clinics were initiated, promoted and staffed by the 26-member team.
The team was also named a NAIA Scholar Team for the second consecutive year. Twenty-four students on the spring eligibility list had a cumulative grade point average of 3.192.
Roger Doerr, professor of economics, is head men’s golf coach.
