Hastings College radio station KFKX 90.1 FM, television station HCTV6 and website HCworldnews.com were cited for overall excellence and  named Media of the Year in their respective categories at the 2008 Nebraska Collegiate Media Association –Nebraska Press Association college media competition in Lincoln. 

Colleges in the 16th annual competition included: Hastings College, Doane College, Wayne State College, Chadron State College, Northeast Community College, Nebraska Wesleyan University and Creighton University.
