May 2, 2008 - Hastings College to host Jubilee Food Fest

The Hastings College Local and Global Community Group will host a Jubilee Food Fest, Sunday, May 4, at 6 p.m., at the Barrett Alumni Center, Hastings College, 1001 N. 6th Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

The Jubilee Food Fest, open to faculty, staff, students and community members, will feature a dinner made from locally grown and/or organic foods. The event will educate people about the need to conserve energy and to be environmentally conscious in a time of increasing food shortages world wide. A positive way to respond is to reduce the amount of travel food undergoes to get to local tables.

Attendees will also be able to engage in advocacy for various programs such as the Global Poverty Act.

The event is being coordinated by juniors Meggan Lloyd and Sabrina Miller.
Faculty sponsor is The Rev. Dr. M. Jean Heriot, associate director of the Vocation and Values Program.

For more information, contact Heriot at jheriot@hastings.edu, or (402) 461-7770, or Lloyd at mnlloyd@hastings.edu to sign up.

Lloyd is the daughter of Richard and Monica Lloyd, Hastings, Neb. Miller is the daughter of Rex and Cynthia Miller, Lewellen, Neb.
