April 30, 2008 - Hastings College students to perform in recital
The Hastings College Singers and the Hastings College Men’s Choir will perform in a recital, Tuesday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m., in Perkins Auditorium, Fuhr Hall of Music.
The recital is free and open to the public.
The Hastings College Singers, an all female ensemble, is directed by Dr. Charles Smith, professor of music. They will perform McCray’s Rise Up, My Love, My Fair One (Stefanie Molli, soprano, sophomore, Kevin/Cathie Molli, Papillion, Neb.; Jessica Thompson, flute, sophomore, Jay/Leslie Thompson, Pine, Colo.); Mendelssohn’s Lift Thine Eyes from Elijah; Humperdinck’s Prayer from Hansel and Gretel; Bach’s Sheep and Lambs May Safely Graze; and Bernstein’s I Feel Pretty from West Side Story (Sarah Vaughn, soprano, senior, Richard/Delores Vaughn, Omaha, Neb.)
Hannah Jorgensen will provide piano accompaniment. Jorgensen, a sophomore, is the daughter of Terry/Mary Jorgensen, Fairfield, Neb.
The Hastings College Men’s Choir is directed by Dr. Robin Koozer, professor of music and chair of the department. The ensemble will sing Larson’s Ain’t No Rock Gonna’ Shout for Me; Farnell’s I Think My Love So Fair; Weiss’ The Lion Sleeps Tonight; Luboff’s Yellow Bird (Instrumentalists: Jessica Thompson, sophomore, Jay/Leslie Thompson, Pine, Colo.; Martin VanWesten, junior, Glenn/Tallie VanWesten, Plattsmouth, Neb.; David Morris, junior, Kenteth/Christine Morris, Oberlin, Kan.; Joel Niemann, junior, Roger/Patricia Niemann, Lincoln, Neb.; and Sean Anders, sophomore, Bobby/Dixie Anders, Craig, Alaska); and Arlen’s Lydia, the Tattooed Lady.
Thomas Lesiak and Noah Elmshaeuser will provide piano accompaniment.
Lesiak, a sophomore, is the son of Charles Lesiak, Cedar Bluffs, Neb.
Elmshaeuser, a sophomore, is the son of Karl/Kris Elmshaeuser, Ogallala, Neb.
