April 23, 2008 - Hastings College students to perform in Sunday recital

Hastings College students Ashten Purviance and Melissa Zahller will perform in a recital, Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m., in Perkins Auditorium, Fuhr Hall of Music. 

The recital is free and open to the public. 

Purviance, a mezzo-soprano, will perform Handel’s Alma Mia, Caldara’s Sebben Crudele, Menotti’s Lullaby, Blitzstein’s Addies Blues, Schumann’s Schneeglockchen Widmung, and Fine’s Childhood Fables for Grownups. 

Thomas Lesiak will provide piano accompaniment. 

Zahller, a pianist, will play Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C Sharp minor, Mendelssohn’s Scherzo in E minor, Debussy’s Jimbo’s Lullaby and Golliwog’s Cakewalk, and Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag. 

Purviance, a junior, is the daughter of Bruce/Kimberly Purviance, Hamilton, Mont.
Zahller, a senior, is the daughter of John Zahller, Westminster, Colo.
Lesiak, a sophomore, is the son of Charles Lesiak, Cedar Bluffs, Neb.
