April 7, 2008 - Hastings College students chosen as Hunger Justice Leaders
Hastings College senior Jeff Richards, Geneva, Neb., and junior Meggan Lloyd, Hastings, Neb., were chosen as Hunger Justice Leaders by Bread for the World.
They will participate in a workshop in Washington, D.C., in June.
Hunger Justice Leaders are advocates who work in partnership with Bread for the World, an anti-hunger group. Leaders will promote efforts in their churches, communities and across college campuses to eradicate hunger and poverty.
In the first year for the program, 75 students were selected from more than 350 applicants.
Bread for the World is a lobbying group based in Washington, D.C. The 58,000 member, non-partisan organization, is supported by 2,300 churches and more than 45 denominations and church agencies. The group lobbies Congress and the administration for public policy changes to address the causes of hunger and poverty in the United States and abroad.
Richards is the son of Rodger and Annetta Richards.
Lloyd is the daughter of Richard and Monica Lloyd.
